During the 2007-08 academic year, the College of Engineering made significant progress toward our $100 million FOREVER LSU campaign goal.

As of September 30, the College had secured close to $60 million in overall philanthropic commitments including gifts of cash, pledges, corporate matching gifts, and planned gifts since the campaign began. The total also includes received and projected funds from the Louisiana Board of Regents that match private funds allocated toward new Engineering professorships and chairs. According to numbers released by the LSU Foundation, this past academic year, the College of Engineering raised more than $14.6 million through gifts (direct and planned) and documented pledges—the highest philanthropic revenue among academic units on the Baton Rouge campus. This total represents a doubling of gift funds raised in 2006-2007, which totaled about $7 million.

As these gift funds have grown, so too, has the College’s total of endowed and non-endowed accounts. Since gift tracking began for the FOREVER LSU campaign in 2001, the College’s overall balance of endowed and non-endowed funds had grown from $47 million to $79 million by June 30, 2008. The College’s campaign goal also correlates to an increase in these account funds to reach and exceed the $100 million mark.
