Richard Capone, Electrical and Computer Engineering computer manager, has been selected as a participant of LSU's "LEAD...Emerge" Program for spring 2008.

LEAD…Emerge is LSU’s leadership development program for new supervisors, candidates for promotion to a supervisory position, and current supervisors desiring professional and personal development. The program focuses on building and enhancing leadership skills which support the University’s strategic objectives (Flagship Agenda). Using self awareness as a catalyst for professional improvement, the program incorporates a combination of individual and group experiential exercises to further build participants’ competencies.

Capone received his B.S. in computer engineering at LSU in 2005. His leadership abilities were evident even as a student, where he served as team leader of the Institute of Electrical and Electronic Engineers (IEEE) Robotics Team. During this time, LSU ECE won back-to-back first place honors at IEEE Region 5 Robotics Competitions. After graduation, Capone worked as a research associate in the LSU Center for GeoInformatics managing a state-wide network of GPS reference stations of subsidence research and geodetic measurements. He joined the Electrical and Computer Engineering Department in December 2006.
