Cheryl L. Peters, Minority Engineering Program Coordinator, was selected as the 2006-2007 Advisor of the Year.  She was recently honored at the annual Faculty Awards Reception on May 8, 2007.

During seven years of service at LSU, Peters has increased retention of minority students in the College of Engineering.  In order to reach out to this diverse student group, she has worked with local chapters of the Society of Hispanic Professional Engineers and the National Society of Black Engineers.

The Minority Engineering Program began in 1991. The program was designed to help minority students excel in the engineering curriculum.  It offers financial aid, tutoring, counseling and a number of other services to its students. For more information on the MEP, visit: http://www.mep.lsu.edu/
