Laura Harvey, a senior chemical engineering student has been selected to participate in the 2007 GACCoM Transatlantic Program.  She was among 25 nationwide selected students to receive this opportunity.

Harvey is from St. Francisville, Louisiana.  She has completed 38 hours of German classes at LSU.  She has an internship with BASF in Ludwigshafen, Germany.  Once in Germany, participants take part in a two part program.  The first is an immersion seminar designed to allow participants to meet with government officials, representatives from companies and their fellow students.  The second part involves students traveling to their individual internships and meeting with their fellow students for a midterm seminar.

The German American Chamber of Commerce of the Midwest Transatlantic Program is designed to provide American Citizens with facts on Germany and to unite the two nations.  The program started in 1997 from European Recovery Program Special Funds.  Its purpose is to keep the memory of George C. Marshall alive.  For more information, visit: http://www.gaccom.org/trans.
