Craft & Hawkins Department of Petroleum Engineering (PE) staff member C. Wayne Manuel and Biological & Agricultural Engineering (BAE) staff member Donna Elisar were selected as two of the 13 recipients of the LSU Staff Outstanding Service Award for 2007. Manuel works at the Petroleum Engineering Research & Technology Transfer Laboratory (PERTT LAB) on Gourrier Lane as the facility’s operator and specializes in welding, welding inspection, pipefitting, and maintenance. Elisar is an administrative program specialist in BAE. Manuel and Elisar were chosen by fellow co-workers who believed their performance was superior and their work contributed to the progress of their departments.

According to Dr. Stephen O. Sears, Department Chair, PE, “Mrs. Glenda Manuel, petroleum faculty and staff members Darryl Bourgoyne, Julius Langlinais, and Jeanette Wooden were present at the ceremony. The Department is very proud of Mr. Wayne for his accomplishment and service.”

Elisar expressed her appreciation, stating “It was a big surprise and a great honor to know that BAE nominated me for this award since I have only been working with BAE for six months.  My nomination was a joint effort between BAE and Horticulture (where I previously worked), but BAE initiated the nomination.”

On Wednesday, Nov. 28, family and friends gathered at the LSU Faculty Club as the LSU Foundation honored 13 staff members, including Manuel and Elisar, for their accomplishments. Other LSU award winners included Glenda Banta, Karen Cade Jones, Carolyn Landry, Helen Sandi Guillot, Priscilla M. Milligan, Gaila M. Starns, and Angela E. Ogle. Award winners from LSU’s Agricultural Center included Terri Gilmer, Elaine Henderson, and Kathy Loyd, while Ellen Locke was the sole award winner from LSU’s Herbert Law Center.
