LSU recognized 1,801 successful degree candidates at the University’s 264th commencement exercises on December 21, 2007. Unlike the main commencement held in May, December graduates receive their honors in a series of separate exercises for each college held in various locations across campus. The College of Engineering (CoE) saluted its Fall 2007 graduates at the Maddox Fieldhouse. Jennie M. Najolia graduated summa cum laude in Chemical Engineering, alongside seven magna cum laude and four cum laude graduates. PETE graduate William Watson represented the graduating class of 222 candidates—158 Bachelor’s Degrees, 50 Master’s Degrees and 14 Doctorates (see table below).

In addition, the College awarded Najolia the Edward McLaughlin Dean’s Medal of Excellence for the highest grade point average among CoE graduates. The award commemorates McLaughlin’s 28-year LSU career as professor, researcher, department chair and dean.
