Golf Tournament to Benefit Engineering Students, Scholarships

The Louisiana Engineering Society will host the William A. Wintz Memorial Scholarship Golf Tournament on Fri., April, 12 at the Santa Maria Golf Course beginning at 1 p.m. The profits from the tournament will benefit the LES Baton Rouge Chapter Scholarship Fund and the Louisiana Engineering Foundation.

The William A. Wintz Memorial Scholarships are awarded to undergraduate engineering students at LSU and Southern University. The goal of LES is to honor deserving engineering students and encourage them to obtain their PE license and join LES.

The scholarship is in honor of William A. Wintz Jr., PE, RLS, who served a key role in the scholarship program for the Baton Rouge Chapter of LES until his death in January 1985. He was a civil engineering professor at LSU and retired in May 1979 with a teaching career that spanned five decades.

Participants can sign up individually or as a team. Corporate packages are available and include four players and a one-hole sponsorship with a tee sign on the course. Entry fees include a green fee and cart, refreshments, dinner, awards and door prizes. Donations are also accepted and can be mailed to the LEF.
