The Chancellor’s Distinguished Lectureship Series will host Gregory Stephanopoulos, professor of chemical engineering at MIT, tomorrow, Thursday, February 16, at 2:00 p.m. in the Shaver Theater (in the Music & Dramatic Arts Building). The talk, “Metabolic Engineering: Synthetic Chemistry of the 21st Century,” will review the foundations of metabolic engineering as well as its evolution over its short 20-year lifespan. A reception will follow immediately after the presentation.

During his talk, Stephanopoulos will use examples from the production of biofuels, pharmaceuticals, and materials from renewable resources to illustrate both the growth and significance of this field.  For more details about his career and accomplishments, visit http://stephanopoulos.openwetware.org/.
