Art E. Favre is owner and president of Performance Contractors, Inc., a $400 million general industrial services company specializing in construction, maintenance, and pipe fabrication capabilities. The firm is headquartered in Baton Rouge, Louisiana with branch offices in Lake Charles, Louisiana, Freeport, Texas, and Mobile, Alabama. Primary business sectors include refineries, petrochemicals, chemicals, and power. Louisiana Contractor Magazine, in 2006, ranked Performance Contractors as the fourth largest Louisiana based contractor.

Favre, a Gulfport, Mississippi native, is a graduate of Louisiana State University, receiving a Bachelor of Science Degree in Construction in 1972.

Prior to founding Performance Contractors in 1979, Favre worked for Lurgi-Knost Engineers and Constructors in Baton Rouge, Louisiana and then moved to Houston, Texas to work for Fluor Corporation. He then returned to Baton Rouge, Louisiana to accept a position as Vice President of Universal Corporation.

Over the years, LSU has played a major role in providing quality-staffing candidates to Performance Contractors, and Favre has been active in supporting the university and the College of Engineering. He serves as a member of the Dean's Advisory Council and the Board of Directors of the Construction Industry Advisory Council for Department of Construction Management and Industrial Technology. He has also served as past president of the LSU Construction Industry Advisory Council. Favre is a member of the LSU Alumni Association, the LSU Foundation, and TAP.

Favre is active in numerous professional and civic organizations including the American Association of Cost Engineers, Associated Builders and Contractors, Inc. - National Board of Directors, Associated Builders and Contractors, Inc. - Pelican Chapter Board of Directors, Louisiana Chemical Industry Alliance, Louisiana Right to Work Committee, Alexis de Tocqueville Society of the Louisiana Capital Area United Way, and the City Club Foundation of Baton Rouge. He has also served as President of the Pelican Chapter of the Associated Builders and Contractors, three-time Chairman of the Industrial Contractors Council of the Pelican Chapter of the Associated Builders and Contractors, and President of the City Club of Baton Rouge. Favre currently serves as a member of the Louisiana State Licensing Board for Contractors.

Other honors received are the LSU Greek Excellence Award, the ABC Pelican Chapter Merit Shop Man of the Year Award, induction into the LSU Construction Management Hall of Fame, the LSU Department of Construction Management - Distinguished Patron, and Marketer of the Year Award by the SME of Greater Baton Rouge.

Under Favre's leadership, Performance Contractors has received four National Construction Safety Awards from the National Business Roundtable and the Construction Users Roundtable. Additionally, they have received, to date, a total of ten National Excellence in Construction Awards for outstanding projects against national competition from the Associated Builders and Contractors. Louisiana Contractor Magazine has recognized Performance Contractors four times for having the Best Industrial/Manufacturing project in the state.

Favre and his wife Charlene, a graduate of LSU, have two children, B. Scott Favre and Shelley N. Favre, also a graduate of LSU, and one grandchild, Brandon S. Favre Jr., hopefully a future graduate of LSU. When not working, Favre enjoys offshore sport fishing and tournament competition.
